within a lush tree canopy in #illawarra, #australia, built as a sustainable secondary residence. the new #timber structure wraps around a 60-year-old tree in the disused sloping courtyard of the existing main house, and is formed to serve as an office space during the day, and a short-term stay cabin at night. the sustainable house was designed in accordance with the passive house standard, allowing guests to live a flexed lifestyle throughout their modes of living and working across all seasons. salvaged and ‘waste’ materials were used throughout, helping reduce the environmental impact of the project without sacrificing material quality.images out more on #designboom!#architecture #houses
